I’m a statistician and ML researcher based in Columbus, Ohio. I currently work as a Principal Data Scientist at Upstart, where I focus on credit risk modeling, ML fairness and explainability, and model governance in a regulated lending environment. Before that, I spent five years at Sandia National Laboratories doing applied statistical research in nuclear deterrence and nuclear forensics. I hold a Ph.D. in Statistics from Ohio State.
Outside of work I’m usually running, camping, or finding some other excuse to be outside and away from a screen. I’ve finished a 50-mile ultra, two marathons, and more halfs than I can keep track of. I also throw darts, appreciate a good beer, and am slowly working on my Spanish. I’m also unabashedly a coffee snob — life’s too short for a crappy brew.
I write occasionally — mostly technical deep-dives on statistics and ML when something interesting crosses my desk.
